Zimbabwe-style Land-occupation at Komatipoort: large group of violent blacks ordered farmer, workers to leave:

Description
On May 8 2012 a large farm near Komatipoort was suddenly occupied by a large group of very aggressive, young black males. They chased the caretaker-farmer off the land together with all the workers. These families were forced to leave all their belongings behind.

Occupation of farm near Komatipoort - Statement by Transvaal Agricultural union:
TAU SA did its best to gain insight in the case where blacks arrived on a farm near Komatipoort and ordered the farmer to leave the property. The farmer is not a TAU SA member. The farm in question has apparently been transferred to a new owner after a claim was lodged. The new owner apparently also entered into a contract leasing the farm to a farmer who continued with his activities. According to information a difference of opinion arose because the new owner was not acquainted with the implications of the contract and decided to remove the occupants. TAU SA is satisfied that in this case the police acted effectively and prevented a Zimbabwe-style occupation, without supporting the aggressive stance of the protestors.
TAU SA is however deeply concerned about the levels of aggression displayed by the crowd which reminds of similar occurrences in Zimbabwe.
Although an apparent misunderstanding took place, the emotions were running high, the police conducted themselves in a professional manner.
This development again emphasises how important it is for farmers to involve themselves in organised agriculture.
Where they are united in a structure, similar situations could be resolved in good time. TAU SA therefore calls on farmers to join the agricultural union.
