Elderly Afrikaans couple tied up, beaten: husband in serious condition with cracked skull:

Description
Elderly Van Riebeeck Park, Kempton Park couple beaten up in Magalies Street - police makes quick arrest of three black males thanks to alert house-painter next door

8 May 2012 SAPS sergeant Johanna Madiga of the Norkem Park SAPS (Phone: 011-570 9000 Fax: 011-570 9240) said they have arrested three black men thanks to the diligence of a house-painter who warned them.

The three men are accused of beating up an unnamed elderly Afrikaner man, 65, who was in his lounge in Magaliesberg Street at 2pm. His wife was in the garden. The old Afrikaner was grabbed by the throat and ordered to keep quiet while some of the other men dragged his wife from the garden into the house. They then tied up the couple and THEN bashed in the helpless man's head 'with an unknown object', said the SAPS spokeswoman. He is in serious condition at hospital.

The attackers then looted various items including their GUN -- LOCKED AWAY INTO THE GUN SAFE -- from the couple. They tried to drive away with the couple's car but the alarm went off.

They abandoned the car and while fleeing on foot through a neighbour's yard a painter working there alerted the house owner.
The police said they arrested one of the three men near the house as they arrived on the scene very quickly.

They arrested the other two men the next day in Alexandra. These two still had the couple's stolen firearm in their possession. (Source SAPS Phone: 011-570 9000 Fax: 011-570 9240)
