Fred Jorgenson, 62, descendant of 1882 Norwegian settlers, murdered on farm Louisiana No 40, Port Shepstone, Case Nr 55/2011 trial starts 3 May 2012

Lita Cross Fourie writes of a previously unreported farm-murder on November 3 2011: Fourie, who runs the charity Tabita and helps traumatised victims of farm murders, writes that the trial of six of the ten murderers of farmer Fred Jorgenson, 62, of Port Shepstone on November 3 2011 -- starts on 3 May 2012 in KZN. Mr Jorgenson was murdered on his farm Louisiana No. 40: stabbed to death with four knife-wounds.
The number of attackers totaled TEN of whom SIX were arrested and charged: all were black South African males. They also badly attacked his wife Tokkie. She survived her ordeal.

The case number is 55/2011/ Port Shepstone 3 November 2011. The trial starts on 3 May 2012 in KwaZuluNatal.

Mr Jorgenson's Norwegian Lutheran forebears settled in South Africa in an organised migration of European protestants from 1882 - who landed in then-Port Natal and were given land-parcels by the British authorities of that time - when the Boers had also been running their independent Boer Republics of the Transvaal and the Orange Free State.
