Colin Becker and his 16 white tenants attacked by armed gang, First Avenue home, Edenvale, Jhb
5 April 2012 Charmaine Slater EDENVALE - According to home owner, Mr Colin Becker two of the black male attackers were armed with guns, two others had sticks and the fifth man was armed with a knife.
The men entered the house through the back door at Sunday about 7.45pm.“They took what they could, watches, wallets and 12 Blackberry cellular phones,” Mr Becker said.
He added that before the men fled they tied everyone up with shoe laces and neck ties.“We live approximately 200 metres from the guard house on First Avenue. When I told the guard to call the SAPS he said he was trying to do so. Apparently he saw what had happened but when he pushed the panic button no one responded,” Mr Becker said.
Mr Becker then called 10111 and the SAPS arrived within 10 minutes.
