Elderly Ugie couple stabbed, wife dies

The wife of a school principal has been murdered at Ugie in the Eastern Cape, the SABC reported on Sunday.

Police spokeswoman Ursula Roelofse told the broadcaster that at least two people broke into the couple's home in Plein Street and stabbed both Ugie primary school principal Christof Gouws, and his 62-year-old wife Helena.

The wife did not survive. Her husband was admitted to the Maclearc hospital. Nothing was stolen from the house.

The police dog unit was searching for the suspects. - Sapa
