Afrikaner actor Hendrik Cronjé and friend Henrich Schultz were kidnapped at 1am Friday Sept 3 2010 from the Menlyn shopping centre in Pretoria; robbed at gunpoint, ordered into the carboot, kidnapped and driven to Mamelodi township. Cronjé, who acts in the Afrikaans TV-soap "7deLaan', said they were attacked by two black men when they returned to their car after attending the premiere of the Afrikaans movie Bakgat Two. The actor who plays the part of Lukas Mulder in the soapie, said he initially thought the men would 'only rob them' - however instead the two Afrikaner men were ordered to climb into the car-boot, writes Rapport journalist Gavin Prins.
"We are going to kill you now,' their attackers kept on screaming as they drove off with the two Afrikaners. Instead the car stopped in Mamelodi and they were ordered out of the boot."We walked for a few minutes and then knocked at the door of a house to get help,' said Cronjé.
The Brooklyn police took their statements -- and while this was taking place, the report came in that the actor's car was tracked to a site in Mamelodi. Just hours after his nightmare-experience, the young Afrikaner was back on the set of Sewende Laan.
