Our own archives show that false arrests of whites is a growing pattern for the past ten years and getting worse: whites are thrown in police jails on trumped-up charges and non-existent 'violations' and often roughed up by black police officers who often demand bribes. For example: in March 14 this year, the civil-rights movement AfriForum released shocking visual material on M-net TV's programme Carte Blanche showing Pretoria police officers unlawfully yanking around an Afrikaans woman, Magdel Steyn. They carried out an illegal arrest: the Afrikaans woman was accused of double-parking at a PRIVATE parking lot while she in actual fact was still driving around trying to find parking for her car… It’s not known why the Pretoria metropolitan police were present in such large numbers just to arrest one defenceless Afrikaans woman who had done nothing wrong. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2VFtfr54KmI
Nantes Kelder, head of community safety of AfriForum, said the visual material shows shocking images of Steyn’s human rights being violated under the pretense of a very minor traffic violation. AfriForum demanded that the cops involved in the abuse of Mrs Steyn be suspended, or be withdrawn from active policing duties.By October 2010, they were still holding down the same jobs. Kelder encouraged members of the public to tell their stories about incidents of power abuse by police members at www.afriforum.co.za. AfriForum will assist people with legal advice. He said: "these kinds of abuse are primarily due to a lack of discipline and supervision."
