Farm wife Cecelia Steynberg, 51, shoots armed attacker in neck – Stormpan, Wesselsbron

2010-09-30 An armed black man – one of at least four home-invaders - who invaded a farm homestead near Wesselsbron was shot in the neck by the farmer’s wife – leaving the gunman injured and probably permanently disabled. Nothing was robbed. Two suspects are still at large.

Mrs Cecelia Steynberg (51) of the farm Stormpan woke up at around 3:00am from the loud barking of her little dogs inside. She fetched their firearm from the safe where, by law, it has to be locked up, and climbed back into bed. She said her husband Callie works in Kroonstad and she’s alone at home: so she make certain that she was able to protect herself.

After a while she heard the security-door inside the hallway leading to the bedroom being broken down. She tried to raise the farm-manager on her Farm-watch link’s two-way radio, but could not reach him: he apparently was busy at the chicken-house.

A black man then suddenly entered her bedroom, pointed a firearm at her and pulledthe trigger. However she was lucky: the attacker’s gun failed to fire so the man surged towards her while she fired off a shot which hit him in the neck. He was only a meter away from her when she shot the gunman, police said. She then rushed outside and fired off another warning shot to alert the farm-workers. Police and the local farm-watch were on the scene very quickly. SAPS sergeant Puleng Motsoeneng, said the injured man told them that there were three other men with him who were attacking the Steynberg homestead. They got in by cutting through the burglar-bars with a wirecutter. Police confiscated a firearm from him which had its serial-number filed off. They also found another person’s driver’s license and Mrs Steynberg’s car-keys on the injured man. He was admitted to Odendaalsrust hospital under police guard and then transferred to Welkom’s Bongani hospital.

Meanwhile local farmers teamed up with field-trackers and Agri-Free State’s intelligence chief Hennie Gerber and launched a massive search for the three other farm-attackers – arresting a second suspect later that morning who provided information to help track down the other two. However the two are still at large: they managed to get through the cordon put up near Odendaalsrust. .http://www.beeld.com/Suid-Afrika/Nuus/Boervrou-skiet-inbreker-in-nek-20100929

Afrikaans child, 6, guards murdered dad

Six-year-old Afrikaans girl Monay Mouton guarded her murdered dad’s body through the night after he was shot dead by black gunmen inside the family home in Drie Riviere, Vereeniging. He headed the local Child-Welfare organisation. http://www.beeld.com/Suid-Afrika/Nuus/6-jarige-10-uur-by-pa-se-lyk-20100930

--------------

Gloria Edwards, Beeld newspaper writes that the child’s aunt and trauma-psychology experts on the scene all described the child as ‘an incredibly brave girl’. Her murdered dad, accountant Christo Mouton, 54, was the head of the Child Welfare Group in Vereeniging, where he’d worked for years – and had in fact only recently been re-elected to another term. His sister said “everything he earned, he plowed back into helping the community.”

The unarmed Afrikaner was gunned down execution-style inside the family home in Vereeniging at 22:00. The black gunmen had also threatened Monay, demanding the ‘safe keys’ from the little girl. Her mom Coral Mouton, 35, also an accountant, was in Durban for business at the time of the attack. So after her dad’s murder, the child stayed awake all night next to her dad’s body until the black housekeeper showed up for work at around 7.:30am, writes Edwards. They looted very little of real value: a TV and some computers.

Picture: Police, Eblockwatch members and grieving family gathered outside the Christo Mouton murder scene:

The murdered Afrikaner’s sister Carina Huntly wept bitterly while telling Edwards that her brother ‘was murdered for nothing’. She had still spoken to them at 9pm while the child was watching a story on TV with her dad. She called them again at 21;30 and her brother told her that he ‘was all set to go to bed.’ At 22:00, he was dead.

Mrs Huntly said Monay told her that she was awakened by ‘voices and lights and large men who demanded the safe-keys”. The child was unable to tell them where to find them, said her aunt. “We suspect that by that time, Christo was already shot dead. After the men fled with their loot, the little girl ran to her parents’ bedroom and found her dad dead on the floor. “She first tried to wake him up. But then she sat next to his body, falling asleep every once in a while,’ the aunt said.

“I think she realises now that he’s dead because later on she told me ‘My pappa now is with my ouma (grandmother).’ Eblockwatch’sspokesman - which responded to the emergency call - said the child was not injured but the traumatic experience was discussed with her by a trauma-expert to try and make her understand. Mr Mouton worked for Child-Welfare for years and was just re-elected for another term, said his sister. “Everything he earned he always plowed back into the community. He was a good person,’ she said.

SAPS captain Shado Mashobane said no-one was of course arrested. Traces were found indicating that the black gunmen may havebroken into the house by tearing out a window in Mr Mouton’s office, he said. Otherwise, the SAPS clearly haven’t got a clue as to where the murderers may have fled nor even whether they’d left by car or on foot. However judging from the stolen items: a TV and several desktop computers, they may have had difficulty running away while lugging such heavy items around? http://www.beeld.com/Suid-Afrika/Nuus/6-jarige-10-uur-by-pa-se-lyk-20100930

Four women threatened at Kykkidam resort, Broederstroom

At the Broederstroom resort of Kyk-kidam, four women were sleeping in a chalet during the early hours of Saturday morning when three males came in and threatened them with a crowbar.

•Luggage containing clothes was taken as well as cell phones but the suitcases were later found - but not the contents.
•In a second incident at the same resort, three mountain bikes worth R5,200 were stolen after thieves cut the fence to get in some time on Friday night. A case of theft and malicious damage to property has been opened.
At the Good Shepherd Retreat in Meerhof, an alarm was set off to which the response company reacted, but they were too late to recover the bedding and curtains that were stolen. Thieves had forced a window open at one of the cottages to gain entry.

At the Welgegund Pelindaba Mission, thieves smashed a back window before stealing a car radio worth R3 000 as well as a CD player and a battery worth R600.

At the Alpha Training and Conference Centre in Broederstroom, a sports bar was broken into and a DSTV decoder worth R1 900 and a DVD player worth R2 000 plus towels were taken.

•Criminals have targeted the area mainly to the south and west of Hartbeespoort Dam this weekend. Mr van der Spuy says that police are going to do crime prevention exercises to combat the situation in these Sectors Two and Three.

Bruwer family Centurion robbed twice by 'well-informed armed men in SAPS uniforms'

2010-09-28 Seugnet Esterhuyse of Beeld newspaper reports that the Bruwer-family was robbed twice within a week at their Highveld, Centurion home - by 'robbers in police uniforms'. And events during the second robbery indicates that the Lyttleton SAPS may be closely involved in the robberies, said the family.

André Bruwer (53) said his wife Laurenza, 51 and daughter Luandri, 20, were home alone on Sunday - a week after the family had been robbed after they had forgotten to turn on their burglar-alarms. During the first robbery, a TV-set, sound-system, cellphone, laptop computer and safe were looted.

Mr Bruwer said when he submitted this information to the SAPS at Lyttleton station, he also volunteered the information that the robbers had 'left behind valuable items including a second safe- and that they planned to install security cameras soon."

On Sunday, with the two women alone at home, 'two black men in police uniforms' came knocking at their front door, claiming that they were 'investigating the house-robbery'; that they had 'arrested three suspects'; and that they 'wanted more information'.

•Mrs Bruwer invited them in - and one man immediately pointed a gun to her head, and three more armed black men, all in police uniforms, then walked in. One demanded to have the 'code to the second safe' and demanded to know 'where the security cameras' video-materials were located'.

2010-09-26 Father Justin Stirton, 60, priest, attacked by 4 black men, Parish of Immaculate Conception, Underwood Road, Pinetown -

September 27 2010 Pinetown priest Father Justin Stirton, faced by four armed black men, made a dash for his life when the gunmen were involved in a fatal shoot-out with undercover policemen on the church premises. Photo: Terry Haywood

---------------------------

Father Justin Stirton, 60, of the Parish of the Immaculate Conception in Underwood Road, Pinetown, KwaZulu, was taking the night’s collections to the church office when he was confronted by the four gunmen. The attack is the latest in a string of armed robberies at places of worship in greater Durban – there have been several incidents since the beginning of the year.

•Police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Vincent Mdunge, said members of the Pinetown crime prevention and Durban K9 units were tipped off about a possible robbery during the 5pm Mass. Two suspected robbers were shot dead by police, another man was arrested and a fourth man escaped.
Mdunge said undercover officers stationed themselves in the vicinity of the church and watched as a white VW Jetta drove up and three men alighted and entered the Roman Catholic church. “They pretended to be church-goers and took their places inside the building. The fourth man parked the getaway car at the nearby Spar, which is about half a kilometre away,” Mdunge said. As the Mass was drawing to a close, the man drove the vehicle into the church parking lot and entered the building.

•“The priest was left alone after the service. While he was taking the collection money into his office, the men pulled out firearms and demanded the cash. Police officers entered at the same time and ordered them to surrender.”
The men allegedly refused and instead opened fire on the officers. Police returned fire and shot down three men, killing two. Mdunge said the priest used the distraction to flee and found safety inside the church. “The third suspect was bitten by a police dog on his hand while the fourth man escaped, despite being shot. We are now searching for him,” Mdunge said. No one else was injured during the gunfight.

After the shooting a few concerned parishioners, still in the area, returned to comfort the priest. ER24 spokesman Derrick Banks, said paramedics declared the two suspects dead and treated and stabilised the third man at the scene before he was taken into police custody.

•Mdunge said two unlicenced guns – a .38 revolver and a 9mm pistol – were recovered. “We also seized their vehicle and we are checking to see if it is stolen. The firearms were sent to our forensic science laboratory to ascertain if they are linked to other robberies, such as those at other places of worship.”
When contacted last night, church officials declined to comment. It’s not known if the priest had been aware of the uncover-police surveillance before the attack. Police are investigating a case of armed robbery with aggravating circumstances.

•Female police officer also arrested for armed robbery at Umlazi Zion Church:
•In August there were three attacks on places of worship in Durban. The Imam Hussain Mosque, Madrasah and Cultural Centre in Ottawa, Verulam, was attacked by seven men, who also made off with worshippers’ belongings and two cars, a Lexus and VW Polo.In the other incidents, two worshippers were shot by a group of armed men who stole a car from Ebenezer Ministries, in Bayview, Chatsworth.Worshippers at the Valley Temple in Verulam were robbed of their belongings and three cars were stolen while they were praying.Earlier this year, Umlazi Zion Church members were held up by a group of armed robbers, including a female police officer. In this case the thieves were later arrested. - Daily News nondumiso.mbuyazi@inl.co.za

White SA woman stabbed by guard in Bryanston secure complex - neighbours refuse to help, told the pleading woman to shut up…

By Angelique Serrao - The Star - A white woman in upperclass Bryanston, Sandton, was robbed and stabbed – allegedly by the man hired to protect her – and when she ran to her neighbours, they refused to help her. The 58-year-old woman, who does not want to be identified, lives in a secure complex in Grosvenor Road in Bryanston. The four clusters in her complex are guarded by security guards around the clock.

The woman said she has always been security conscious and recently put security bars and trellis doors on her property. On Tuesday last week, her husband went on a trip overseas and she came home at 10pm after visiting friends. “I tried to open the gate with my remote, but it wouldn’t open. I then hooted for the security guard to open. I waited three or four minutes before I saw him peering over the gate before it opened. Already then I had an uneasy feeling, but I ignored it,” the woman said.

•She parked her car and when she approached her house, she noticed that the door was open. “I knew then that something was wrong, and I turned around and ran,” she said. But the intruder, whom she would later identify as the security guard who earlier that day let her out of the complex, knew she was there and he jumped on her. “He was on top of me and started stabbing me. I didn’t feel anything. I didn’t know then I was being stabbed. I thought he was just hitting me,” she said.
“Please sir, help me I’m dying” – but the neighbours would not open the door…

She managed to push the man off her and he ran away. “I started slipping as I ran. When I looked down, I realised it was my own blood,” she said. The woman had been stabbed twice in the neck – once on the side and once in the back. Her right wrist was slashed. She ran to the cluster next door, a Bed and Breakfast -- but all the doors were closed and nobody would open when she screamed for help. “I took my shirt off to try and stop the bleeding in my neck and ran to the next cluster,” she said. “I knocked on the door and was screaming ‘I’ve been stabbed’.

•They threw a shirt at me as if I was a dog that had been run over…
•A man looked out of the window upstairs and said he wouldn’t open the door for me. I said ‘Sir, please help me I’m dying. I have children, please help’.” She said her neighbour said to her: “Stop screaming. Be quiet. Lie on the grass and wait, I’ve called ADT (private security company).” Eventually, his wife threw a T-shirt down to her to cover herself. “They threw a shirt to me as if I was a dog that had been run over,” the woman said. She estimates that she lay there for about 30 minutes.
And it was only after much begging that one of the neighbours called the woman’s son, who arrived and took her to Morningside Medi-Clinic. She received about 20 stitches and the doctor said she was lucky because the main artery in her neck had been missed by just a millimetre. She still has her bloodied clothes and she said when she went back to the complex this week, she saw her own blood all over the driveway and on her neighbour’s window. Her neighbours sent her flowers the next day and she said they had been too scared to help her.

•“What kind of humanity do we have,” she asked. “They could see me bleeding, and they wouldn’t come and help. I wish people would have the courage to come and help others when they need it.” Only a laptop had been "stolen" from her home -- but the guard who attacked her had left his uniform inside and her bags filled with her things had been left by the door. A charge of attempted murder has been opened against the man -- but the woman said “police have not been able to find him yet”. Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela said “he could not check on the case because Sandton police station’s computer system was down". The woman has been receiving trauma counselling. “This man, someone who was supposed to protect me, tried to murder me. That changes you,” she said. - The Star

2010-09-27 Coenie Pitout, 35, fertiliser-factory representative in Koster, survives being stabbed twice, shot 4 times by 3 attackers who stole nothing

•His wife was unable to get their rifle from their locked gun-safe during the attack.. and after the seriously injured Pitout ‘played dead’, one black man still kicked him in the face and then shot him in the chest. http://www.beeld.com/Suid-Afrika/Nuus/Man-maak-of-hy-dood-is-maar-rower-skiet-hom-in-bors-20100928
Alta Snyman of Beeld newspaper reports that 35-year-old Coenie Pitout, who works as a sales representative for a fertiliser-company, pretended to be dead after he was shot and stabbed by an unknown number of black men who had invaded the family home in Koster.
Pitout, the father of two little girls, is in serious condition in a local hospital, where he is awaiting surgery to remove two bullets.

The incident occurred at around 02:30 on Sunday when Mrs Tania Pitout, 33, woke up from a noise. The family had watched TV on Sunday night and the children had fallen asleep in the living room. They had only moved into the house six weeks earlier. His brother-in-law Justus Jones told Beeld that Coenie got up to investigate. "Tania wanted to go and have a look but just before reaching the kitchen-door she felt uneasy and turned back to fetch Coenie,' he aid."He believed that it was probably one of the kids and didn't even take his gun.' Just as he reached the hallway leading to the kitchen he was shot at point-blank range - the shot was so close that his face was blackened, and the shot strafed his cheek and shot off half-an-ear.The injured Coenie didn't hesitate: he attacked the gunman who dropped the weapon, which was then picked up by a second attacker while a third man rushed into the fray and stabbed Coenie with a knife in his right-side. He was shot a second time, this time in the left-side, said his brother-in-law. Meanwhile the girls woke up and little Antoné managed to reach her mom in the hallway while Imké was grabbed by one of the gunmen.

•“Coenie tore his daughter from the man's grip and shoved her down the hallway. Tania ran with the girls to the living room, locking the door behind her - trying to get the GUN FROM THE SAFE - but couldn't.She then broke the window with a hairspray-bottle and fled with the children,' said Jones. She fetched help from the neighbours.
Meanwhile their injured dad noted that two of the attackers tried to flee through the livingroom window where the burglar-bars had been bent open earlier. One of the gunmen then loomed up behind the injured, unarmed Afrikaner and shot him through the left shoulder. Pitout fell on his back and pretended to be dead, praying that the terror 'would end', said Jones. The black man then walked up to him, kicked him in the face and shot him in the chest. That shot broke one of his ribs and he now needs surgery to remove two bullets.

"Coenie has lost an awful lot of blood. The doctor will operate as soon as he gets a bit stronger,' said Jones.

•The family cannot understand why the injured Coenie kept being attacked, stabbed and shot while the attackers could have fled at any time – he posed no threat to them whatsoever. The black men never spoke to him at all - and did not make any demands for money or car-keys or whatever.
The family was also attacked in the previous home they had lived in - and the only things stolen then were Tania's car-keys, he said. The three black males who attacked Pitout were described as 'very sturdily built'. SAPS spokesman Lt-col Lesego Metsi merely 'confirmed the attack'. http://www.beeld.com/Suid-Afrika/Nuus/Man-maak-of-hy-dood-is-maar-rower-skiet-hom-in-bors-20100928

Nóg ’n boer in Vrystaat aangeval

’n Mes is teen mev. Odendaal se keel gedruk en sy is geslaan.

Mnr. Odendaal se been is met ’n breekyster geslaan.

2010-09-20 Two Afrikaner smallholders arrested after alleged death of farm-attacker - Uitzicht, Kameeldrift

2010-09-23 09:43
Picture: Mrs Elize Olivier burst into tears outside the Pretoria magistrate ‘s court after a black magistrate postponed her husband’s and brother-in-law’s bail-applications to the weekend because police were still looking for an unknown Zimbabwean witness to the shooting death of an attacker on Sept 20 2010. http://www.beeld.com/Suid-Afrika/Nuus/Ons-lewe-in-vrees-20100923

Mrs Olivier told Beeld photographer Wayne Coetzee that with the Olivier men in jail, the family ‘feared for their lives’ at the smallholding and that three unknown men had also been there just the previous night.

Working-class Afrikaners under siege at Kameeldrift:

Kameeldrift is a low-income working-class Afrikaner region -- yet it’s also is one of the most dangerous areas in South Africa - and many hundreds of smallholders have been attacked, raped, assaulted and murdered there over the past few years in an ongoing campaign of terror by well-organised, armed black gangs. These warlike living conditions have even gained fame abroad, with a journalist from Norway even travelling to the smallholdings to interview residents:

Gerhard Pretorius reported in Beeld newspaper that Kameeldrift smallholder Mrs Elize Olivier said her family was living in fear after her husband and his brother were arrested and put in a police cell until at least the weekend -- arrested for allegedly shooting dead an unknown black man who was busy breaking into a window of their homestead on Monday-night September 20 2010.

‘We live in fear there. Last night three more men were at our smallholding,’ said Mrs Olivier, tears streaming down her face when she heard that her husband Frederick Chrisjan and his brother Koos Petrus Olivier, would have to remain in the police cells until at least the weekend. Their bail application was postponed on Thursday ‘pending a statement from one witness’ the court ruled. The SAPS claimed in their submission to oppose the bail-application – which by law has to be heard within 48 hours of any arrest - that the smallholders had allegedly ‘dumped’ the dead farm-attacker’s body along the road.

However Fredrick Olivier’s lawyer JD Nel told magistrate Bhekui Ntshingila that he opposed postponement of the bail application: “The statement which the police is still trying to obtain is from an unknown Zimbabwean man. To find that man is going to be very difficult.’

Public prosecutor Sipho Letswalo claimed that ‘the investigating officer also was trying to trace a dragging-vehicle (?) which may have been used in the crime.’ The magistrate agreed that the two Afrikaner smallholdersshould remain in police custody. http://www.beeld.com/Suid-Afrika/Nuus/Ons-lewe-in-vrees-20100923

Jacoba ‘Jakkie’ Coetzee’s mutilated body lay between her Bible and the bloodied axe

Buks Viljoen, Beeld ERMELO - Sept 23 2010 - The Afrikaans Bible used by Jacoba ‘Jakkie’ Cornelia Coetzee, 62, that morning during Bible study was on her bedside table – and on the floor below lay a bloodied axe near her mutilated body, writes Buks Viljoen of Beeld newspaper. Only a cellphone appears to be missing…

Mrs Coetzee – who worked part-time with her husband at the Ermelo SAPS canteen - was cruelly hacked to death on Thursday afternoon. Her body lay next to the bed. Shocked family members and friends, including many police officials who were friends of the couple, gathered at the Coetzee family home on Thursday after the news of her murder broke.

Her husband Gert, 66, had arrived home at about 12:30 and discovered his wife's maimed body in the master bedroom. She had at least one hack wound to her face. Mrs Coetzee, a congregant of the Dutch Reformed church in the town, earlier that morning had still attended her weekly Bible study group with her friends. When she left there at 11.30, it was the last time she was seen alive. When her husband came home shortly before lunch, he found her lying in a pool of blood next to the bed in their bedroom. The axe lay near her body.

Gem of a human being
The Coetzees are well-known in the town and news about her death sent shockwaves through the community. Among other things, they handled ticket sales at the entrance to the Ermelo agricultural show every year. The couple also worked part-time at the bar in the police canteen. Mrs Coetzee was seen at the canteen on Thursday morning taking stock after they had worked on Wednesday night. "She was a gem of a human being. The epitome of benevolence," Karla Prinsloo, spokeswoman for the Ermelo police, said on Thursday. The police's forensic experts were still busy investigating the scene for clues on Thursday night. Her daughter, Susan Losper, told Beeld through her tears how horrific the attack had been, shortly after she arrived at her parents' home on Thursday. She was too emotional to talk about it further.

According to w/o Prinsloo, by Thursday night the police “had found no sign of forced entry to the house”and the only thing that was missing was Mrs Coetzee's cellphone…

The SAPS may be contacted via Lt. Col. Leonie Joubert at telephone 017 811 3665 if anyone has further information about the murder.

AIRWING, K9 UNITS SHOWED UP WITHIN MINUTES TO SEARCH THE AREA:

SAPS-members from the Hercules police station, the SAPS airwing and the Pretoria K9 unit showed up within minutes of the alarm and started searching the surrounding area. Mrs Coetzee was taken to the private Wesmed Bougainville Hospital in Hercules where she was treated free of charge, reports Beeld.

Mrs Mickey Coetzee, left photographed by Beeld after her ordeal: “I told Maurine to lock the door, and just as she did so a shot was fired right through the door. “

Warrant Officer Louis de Bruin released a picture of a man ‘who could assist them in their inquiry’, named as Nyasha Mabure (19). De Bruin said that while he ‘appeared to have been demanding money, he did not get any and nothing else was robbed either.’

Summary: Smallholder Christa du Toit shot dead at Uitzicht; Part-time SAPS canteen worker Jacoba Coetzee of Ermelo was axed to death next to her bible; Two smallholders at the Kameeldrift region near Pretoria – which has the highest farm-attack rates in the country – were arrested after shooting dead an unknown black man who had climbed into their window in the middle of the night;

----------------------------------

2010-09-23 Christa du Toit, smallholder Swazina Park Uitzicht Pretoria, killed with headshot, gardener Nyasha Mabure, 19 being sought:

September 23 2010 - Swazina Park, Uitzicht smallholdings – Pretoria . Afrikaner smallholder Christa Du Toit had just opened the electronic gates to her gardener when she was attacked, throttled and then shot dead with one shot to the head.

After shooting Mrs du Toit dead, the murderer attacked her housefriend Mrs Mickey Coetzee, 48, beating her brutally in the face. He then forced her and the housekeeper to walk four times over the body -- and then he kicked Mrs Fourie’s body . Nothing was robbed. http://www.beeld.com/Galleries/Image/Fotos/Vermaak/Hy%20skop%20werkgewer%20se%20lyk%20na%20kopskoot

Beside her fiancee André du Plessis (54) Mrs Du Toit leaves two children, Amanda, 26 and Leon 31. “It was terrifying. One moment you were talking with her, you come back and she’s dead with a shot in her head,’ said the badly beaten Mrs Coetzee in an interview with Beeld newspaper.

Mrs Christa Du Toit, Mrs Coetzee and housekeeper Mrs Maurine Mambo (30), were alone at the secured homestead after Mrs du Toit’s fiancee André du Plessis (54) had left for work in Kempton Park.
Things were not as usual that morning: both gardeners had failed to show up for work. Shortly after Mr du Plessis had left, housekeeper Mrs Mambo suddenly saw that Mrs du Toit was being throttled by one of the gardeners. She rushed to the adjacent flat of Mrs Coetzee, warning that “Mrs Du Toit was being held hostage.”

The attacker came in, pushed a gun against Mrs Coetzee’s head and forced the two women into the bathroom, demanding money, before taking them to the main house. “When we walked into the hallway we saw Christa on the ground. He forced us to walk four times across her body. I asked him whether Christa was dead, and the man kicked her body and told us to shut up.’ Mrs Mambo then saw her chance, grabbed the gardener’s gun, throwing it into the air. As it fell to pieces on the ground the housekeeper rushed away to seek help from a neighbour. In the meantime Mrs Coetzee was being so brutally beaten by the murderer that she passed out. When she came to, he was gone.

Gr.9-leerling erg beseer in beweerde aanranding

Tom de Wet

WELKOM.

Volgens omstanders was daar ook ’n mes of ander skerp voorwerp betrokke.

68-jarige baklei terug toe kapers sy bakkie wil vat

Dries Liebenberg
Durban.

Thabazimbi Sentrum farm attack, Louis Mayer farm, massive manhunt PICTURES

Dramatic two-day manhunt with close cooperation between some 60 farmers and cops from Hoopdal, Thabazimbi and Pietersburg/Polokwane – aided by skilled SAPS field-trackers and 3 helicopters… with two local supermarkets providing sustenance: textbook rural crime-fighting!

-------------------

THABAZIMBI. September 16 2010 - In a textbook-demonstration of close cooperation between three police stations and some 60 farmers, and highly-skilled field-trackers from the SAPS, one cop helicopter and two private helicopters, three of four armed farm-attackers were tracked down in thick bush and arrested within a day of breaking through a window of commercial farmer Louis Mayer’s farmstead Rooiboschbult near Sentrum. They looted his house, forced him at gunpoint to open his vault to steal cash and weapons – and fired shots at his daughter’s friend. Amazingly, no-one was injured. The farmer’s stolen bakkie was found abandoned with stolen housegoods when the attackers fled into the bush. Only one armed man is still at large: he is known to the SAPS, has a crime record and was already being sought for other violent crimes… Initially it was believed that five attackers had been involved: however from the field-tracking it became clear that four suspects had fled from the stolen farm-bakkie into the bush. Picture: Some 60 farmers and cops from 3 police stations, together with 3 helicopters, mounted a massive search after an armed attack on Louis Mayer’s farm, Rooiboschbult, Sentrum, Thabazimbi district. Shots were exchanged during the attack, but no-one was injured. The manhunt was successful, three of the armed thugs were arrested, and the farmer’s doublecab bakkie, loaded with stolen goods, was found abandoned in the bush. source: Jan Viljoen, Thabazimbi. As reported to Adriana Stuijt by Jan Viljoen, Thabazimbi, telephone 083-325-6057.

On Thursday, September 16th, 2010 approximately 01:30 commercial farmer Louis Mayer and a family friend were attacked and held captive by between 4 to 5 black men on the farm Rooiboschbult, Sentrum, Thabazimbi District. In a dramatic research drama mounted by some 60 members of three local farming communities and the Sentrum Farmers Association, three helicopters, and SA Police members from the Hoopdal, Thabazimbi and Polokwane stations, three attackers were arrested. It is unknown at this stage whether four or five men had been involved but the search for the remaining attacker(s) continues. There also was also an attempt to steal the double cab vehicle but it was abandoned with stolen goods in the bush near the farm when the attackers fled on foot. SAP members and the local farming community were on the scene within minutes of the emergency call.

One of the attackers who still evades arrest is a man with a known criminal record, who is still being sought for a number of other criminal offences, said the SAPS.
The Sentrum Farmers Association area is regarded as a safe area where theft is limited to items of lesser value. Previous to this incident, the last attack in this area took place in December 2008. The Centrum Farmers’ Association is well-organised on a network of radios.
The attack took place at about 01:30 on the morning of 16 September 2010, when four armed black men gained access to the Mayer homestead house by breaking and entering the house through a window. They removed stolen goods from the houses, loading them on a double cab vehicle they intended to steal. However, after the vehicle was loaded up they went to Mr Mayer, still asleep in his bedroom, woke him up, took his handgun and forced him to open his gun-vault, where they took some cash and firearms. Mr Mayer was then locked in a room. A second house on the farm where Mr Mayer’s daughter lived with a friend, was also broken into. The friend – who remains unnamed – grabbed a rifle and opened the door – and three shots were fired at him with a handgun which did not injure him. The friend started firing back at the attackers but did not injure any of them either.

An emergency call went out to the SAPS in Hoopdal who were asked for assistance. The Sentrum Farmers Association was also immediately notified of the attack in progress. After receiving the emergency call, the Hoopdal Police members and the farmers moved immediately to the Mayer farm. The Hoopdal police members were first on the scene and entered the farm. On their way to the house however, the police members met a vehicle which was travelling in an opposite direction. At this stage they were not aware if the vehicle belonging to Mr. Mayer had been stolen. However when the driver of the oncoming vehicle saw the police van, he left the road and went into the bush, where they stopped. The attackers then abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot into the bush. At this stage there was still no clarification whether there are 4 or 5 attackers involved.

Electrified game-fence:

The local farming community then began searching for the attackers in an organised pattern, greatly helped by skilled field-trackers. Shortly afterwards the first footprints of two of the suspects were found where they had walked along the electrified game fence. They then lost the footprints which went back into the bush. By day light, the pursue of the attackers was delayed because the footprints could not be found. In search of the attackers, the local farmers' trackers assisted by the trackers of the SAP Services and other members of SAP Services from Hoopdal, Polokwane and Thabazimbi was deployed. Air support were available continuously during day light hours by three helicopters, provided by the SAP Services, local farmers and businessmen .. The search was hampered because the area they searched was fairly covered with shrub and bush, which provided shelter as the helicopter approached the attackers. In the course of the first day, with the help of the air support, the first attacker was arrested.

At the end of daylight, the trackers were a very short distance behind the fugitives. The follow-up action was then called off due to the approaching darkness. At the end of the day, it was clear that the attackers must have been four in total, two of them moving together and that the fourth one escaped. On the morning of 17 September 2010, one of the local farmers saw the fugitives walking and all the trackers moved to the area they have been seen. Shortly thereafter the fugitives were spotted and the pursue started afresh. Assisted by helicopters, the two fugitives were caught at about 13:45.
Another attacker - a former employee of Mr Mayer – is according to the SAPS a man with a criminal record who was already being sought for a number of violent criminal offences by the SAPS.To date, there were many attempts to take him in custody, without success.

Incredible support by Hoopdal, Thabazimbi and Polokwane police stations:

“The local farming community takes note of the incredible support that was provided by the Hoopdal, Thabazimbi and Polokwane SAP Services. It is again noted with gratitude the skills that are still vested within the police’s tracker unit. Without these skills, this massive search could not have been undertaken. The continuous support with helicopters also ensured the success which was achieved: one police helicopter and the helicopters belonging to Lourens du Plessis, Gert Ehlers, Peter Breegen, Marius de Beer, and Bernard de Beer. The free food and refreshments were supplied to the search-parties by Hannes Fourie of the Thabazimbi Spar and Jan Beyers of Superama Exel and was sincerely appreciated by all. A total of about 60 people were taking part in the search efforts – mostly area farmers. Their determination to hunt down and arrest the attacks was evident. It was once again clear that the community and SAP Services can only achieve success if they support each other. Again, the key to success requires cooperation between all parties and a mutual understanding for each other`s concerns”, writes Mr Viljoen.

Brink, Francina, 85, beaten up, robbed, Bon Accord smallholdings, 4 men in police uniforms

Uniformed attackers beat up Francina Brink, 85, Bon Accord smallholdings, Pretoria

Sept 17 2010 - 85-year-old Afrikaner great-grandmother Mrs Francina Brink (85) was brutally assaulted by ‘four black men in police uniforms’ at the Bon Accord smallholdings north of Pretoria. Two men were arrested: one was a SAPS-constable who had ‘leased out police equipment’ to the 4-member gang.http://www.beeld.com/Suid-Afrika/Nuus/Rowers-in-uniforms-rand-hartlyer-aan-20100917

She ‘could never have dreamt’ -- she told journalist Hilda Fourie of Beeld -- ‘that the four men who arrived in police uniforms were robbers instead’. Her black carer, Mrs Rebecca Ngcanga, had told Mrs Brink that there were ‘police officers at the gate who wanted to see if all the workers had legal documentation’… Instead the ‘police officers’ walked inside, forced the workers to kneel with their heads to the floor, and tied them up. They grabbed Mrs Brink by an arm, took the old lady to her room, ripped off her watch and diamond-ring, tied her hands and feet together, beat her and demanded to know where ‘the safe’ was. “They threatened that if I didn’t talk they would kill me,’ said the old lady, who is a heart-sufferer. She opened the safe - and then they pushed rags into her mouth, covered her head in cloths and started strangling her before leaving her on the bed. While leaving the homestead, the old woman rolled off the bed and found her loaded firearm lying underneath it – just in time to see a black hand grabbing her bed-room door-jamb. In her fear, she fired off a shot -- but it turned out that she’d shot a gardener in his hand because the workers had managed to get loose and were rushing to her aid. Mrs Brink then phoned her grandson – who stopped a police van enroute his rush to the smallholding and described the vehicle in which the gang had fled. The description was immediately broadcast over the police radio, said Lt Col Eugene Opperman, and members from the Mamelodi-East SAPS spotted the car there, forced it off the road, and arrested the driver. After questioning they also arrested another gang-member and are still looking for the other two. http://www.beeld.com/Suid-Afrika/Nuus/Rowers-in-uniforms-rand-hartlyer-aan-20100917

Groenewald, Lukas, 54, injures attacker in Forauna home, Pretoria North

Lukas Groenewald, 54, fights desperately with home-invader to keep him away from his wife, daughter and disabled son

Sept 16 2010 - Lukas Groenewald, 54, fought desperately with a home-invader, shooting and injuring him to keep the black man away from his wife, daughter and disabled son in their Florauna home in Pretoria North. Sept 16 2010 -

The man had broken into their home while the family – wife Zelda, 47, daughter Chanté, 15, and her disabled brother Nóann, 18, were asleep. It’s only when the couple realised that the home-invader had stolen their cellphones right from their bedside-tables that they woke up. The daughter said she ‘pretended to sleep so that the invader – described as ‘bald-headed’- would not realise she was awake while he sat on his haunches and rifled through her school-books (?). “He crawled from my room, heard him go down to the ground floor, and woke up my dad,’ the girl told Beeld journalist Hilda Fourie.

Groenewald took his firearm and flash light and walked through the house – and spotted the man hiding in the kitchen. “He must have nudged something because I heard a noise. When I turned around, he jumped up and attacked me. I saw something in his hand. The two men started struggling with each other and Groenewald fired off several shots while the fight raged up and down the stairs. “He kept on attacking me, even though he’d been shot,’ said Groenewald. Chanté had also alerted the SAPS and they arrived within minutes. SAPS constable William Mahloale confirmed that he’d ‘heard the struggle inside and rushed in to arrest the man. He’s now in stable condition in a local hospital under police guard and expected for a remand-appearance in the local magistrate court soon. http://www.beeld.com/Suid-Afrika/Nuus/Inbreker-val-selfs-na-skoot-nog-aan-20100917

66-jarige 3 keer verkrag

Marietie Louw-Carstens

Mnr.

Tudhope, David, attacked, injured at Drummond Smallholding, dramatic rescue by "SA CAN"

This report from SACAN (forwarded without permission of SACAN by me)
INCHANGA SAPS CASE: 21/09/2010

On Sunday 12th September, Elizabeth Tudhope and her daughter returned early from a trip to the Drakensberg when they realised that their father and husband, 63yrs David Tudhope, River Road, Drummond was not answering their calls.

On arriving home they noticed the gate was open. As they proceeded up the driveway they saw David lying outside in a massive pool of blood. Elizabeth, who only joined the SA CAN Family a few weeks back, pressed her SOS Alert panic button which in turned notified the SA CAN's control center and her emergency contacts of her situation. Simultaneously, with the support of three SA CAN Operations Duty Managers, mass activation of the SA CAN Family took place.

Elizabeth was given lifesaving instruction telephonically. This was then taken over by CEMS (Community Emergency Medical Services) Alan Cutten and Warren Brauns, who arrived on scene. Twelve VEMA (Voluntary Emergency Medical Assistants) which included Trauma Doctor Tim Hardcastle, NetCare 911 and Inchanga SAPS were all dispatched to the scene.

Due to the location and circumstances, 215 Botha's Hill and Drummond Farm Watch (SA CAN Family members), were notified through SA CAN's high velocity customized SMS system, telling of the situation and requesting response.

133 SA CAN Family Operations Partners, directorship and management of Chubb, ADT, Secure Link, Enforce, Blue, Proforce, community Leaders, SA CAN Flight Operations, Ranking Officers and members of SAPS Dog Unit, Metro Police, RTI, SAPS Field Unit, SAPS Hillcrest, Provincial SAPS, HERS (Hillcrest Emergency Road Services), Upper-Highway Security Reaction Officers, Careline Crises Center and NetCare Aero-Medical were also notified.

This totalled 348 passionate South AfriCANs! Within a few minutes the first of many SA CAN Family members started to arrive along with all emergency service personnel. It was great to see everyone adhering to the SA CAN Incident Management for Residents - Action Plan, which has been signed off by the SAPS. The crime scene was preserved and everyone worked extremely well together!

David is currently sedated in ICU due to severe, severe brain swelling. In saying this he is on his way to recovery. We expect we will be able to talk him early next week after we notify SAPS, whom we are working extremely closely with.

PLEASE! - If anyone has ANY information regarding what transpired, please contact us immediately so we can put you in touch with the SAPS investigators.

It not clear what exactly transpired as David was last seen watching the rugby on Saturday at a local pub and left at around 18:00. It appears David was attacked just after this and was left for dead. Nothing was taken. While the attack was awful, today is a good day in the sense we are dealing with an attempted murder and NOT a murder. You the SA CAN family helped achieve this along with all the role players. It is quite clear that if David did not receive the attention he did, we would have in fact been dealing with a murder. No single one person takes credit. Well done to all involved!

Verwoerd grandson escapes stabbing

44 years after his famous grandfather was stabbed to death in Parliament…
Journalist Scoop Cloete of Sondag newspaper writes that Hendrik Verwoerd junior, a grandson of the assassinated South African prime-minister Hendrik Verwoerd, nearly died in exactly the same way as had his famous grandfather: a suspected carthief had tried to stab young Verwoerd on Sunday 5 September 2010 – one day short of 44 years after Verwoerd senior was stabbed to death on 6 September 1966 in Parliament by uniformed parliamentary messenger Dimitri Tsafendas...http://www.sondag.co.za/artikels/Nuus/SKOKAANVAL

Verwoerd junior, a bank manager at Kleinfontein Savings & Loan in the Afrikaner-kibbutz of Kleinfontein, was guarding cars at the Afrikaans Protestant Church Rayton/Cullinan on 5 September 2010.

He’s a deacon at the church where members take turns guarding the cars in the church parking-lot, said his friend Ben Geldenhuys, president of the Paardekraal Verkenners (scouts) movement.

Verwoerd confirmed the incident in an interview with Sondag. He said he had caught three black men outside the church, trying to steal a BMW belonging to a parishioner. The organist alerted the congregation: he stood up and shouted that there were ‘thugs on the church-ground’. Ten members rushed outside and when his friend Ben Geldenhuys confronted the black men, one had tried to stab Verwoerd with a screw-driver before fleeing. Ten burly Afrikaners set off in hot pursuit, together with members of the community-security group Conserv. The rest of the story on: http://www.sondag.co.za/artikels/Nuus/SKOKAANVAL

Matie vermoor ‘toe hy vriendin wou beskerm'

Blanché de Vries

Stellenbosch

Sy ma, me.

Chris Vosloo by 083 461 9332 te bel.

Wie verantwoordelik was, sal mens net kan raai.

Mines warned: fire whites or lose license

Hiding inside the legalese gobbledegook-jargon of yet another new black-economic-empowerment amendment in the labour law, with the magical word ‘transformation’ the key buzz word, the ANC-regime now demands that mine owners fire their white miners, -mining engineers and managers - or lose their mineral-rights licenses: just reading the law amendment involves negotiating a minefield of deliberate confusion, double-speak and hidden meanings… The message the regime gives to investors is however very clear: “invest with us but expect no profits.”

-----------------------------

Under the new amendment, Government officials’ looting of commercial mining operations will be even more massive than it is today: by the end of 2014, mines are expected to “transform” 40% of all their top-management jobs; hand over 50% of their produced ‘consumer goods’ (details of results below) to the regime; 25% of its profits to “BEE entities’ and 70% of all its workersincluding all its managers from junior to top-level, must be black, qualified or not: the mines also are expected to somehow provide ‘skills enhancement’ training for unskilled blacks.

Farm murder, two robberies, Danielskuil

2010-09-14 Danielskuil - For two years the Van Niekerks travelled across the country together, but their "permanent honeymoon" was cut short by Sylvia van Niekerk’s gruesome murder. Joe van Niekerk told Volksblad about the murder of his wife Sylvia in a rented guest cottage on the farm Boplaas outside Danielskuil. He worked under contract at the Kolomela mine in Postmasburg.

Mr Van Niekerk discovered his wife's body shortly after 17:00 when he came home from work. A 17-year-old suspect was arrested on Saturday afternoon. The unnamed black suspect appeared in court the following Monday. The case was postponed until Friday, for a bail applicationl. Report by André Botha, Volksblad

The tragedy comes barely two weeks after Sylvia's brother died, and a year after Van Niekerk's 22-year-old son, Albert, died."The Lord leads us through deep waters, but He knows why," Van Niekerk said on Monday. The couple got married about two years ago. Since their children had left home, they decided to sell their house and travel across the country, as Van Niekerk worked for a contracting firm in a number of different places.

They spent the past two months at Danielskuil while Van Niekerk worked at the Kolomela mine in Postmasburg. He now wants to finish his contract and leave Danielskuil, since there are too many memories there.

Sylvia Van Niekerk will be cremated and her ashes will be scattered at Salt Rock on the north coast of KwaZulu-Natal. This was her favourite place, and she asked that her ashes be scattered there after her death. Van Niekerk described his wife as a loving person who was touched when she saw beggars at the side of the road. She was creative and had a passion for photography, writing and painting. Shortly before the murder, at 14:47, she wrote on her Facebook profile: "To the world you may be just one person - but to one person you may be the world." http://www.news24.com/SouthAfrica/News/Grieving-husband-opens-his-heart-20100913

Marianne Hopkins, 47, mom of 4, tied up, strangled in bath, Stellenbosch.

2010-09-10 Stellenbosch – Matric-pupil Nina-Sue Hopkins, 18, found her tied-up, murdered mom Marianne, 47, (picture) floating in the bathtub -- just after the teen had arrived home from writing a maths-exam on Friday Sept 10 2010.

Journalist Ilse Krige reports in Die Burger newspaper that the terrified teenager's screams reportedly echoed throughout the high-security housing complex De Boord as she cried: “My ma is dood! My ma is dood! Kom gou!” (My mom is dead, please come quickly).

The pupil at the Afrikaans Girl's High School Bloemhof made the traumatic discovery at around 11:45am. Her mother's lifeless body reportedly was floating in the bathtub, which was filled to the brim. The woman's hands and feet were tied. The SAPS said their initial impression was that she had been strangled.

The distraught teen’s first call was to her friend Marli, 18 and her mother Grethe Schoonraad, 47, reports Krige. Mrs Schoonraad rushed to the Hopkins home and described the murder scene at Nr 24 Rhodes Street North to the journalist. "It was horrific. It just could not be true'...Upset neighbours, friends and family members quickly gathered behind the police barrier, including the youngest child Anne-May (10), a pupil at the Eikestad primary school. Reneé and Nina-Sue had to tell the bad news of her mother's dead to the little girl. The murdered woman's mother Reneé Carinus was so shocked that she sank to her knees at the entrance of the high-security housing complex and beat at the grass with her handbag, reports Die Burger.

Marianne Hopkins' son Billy, 24, who was on a trip in Durban, took the next flight home and the children also were still trying to trace their divorced father Vince, who lives with his son Billy outside Stellenbosch on a farm, but had gone on a fishing trip in Namibia.

SAPS capt Rene Matthee said Nina-Sue (left, being consoled by a male friend), had rung the front-door bell upon her return from school, but did not get any response from her mom. The girl, noticing that the dogs were locked up inside a room, ran to the backdoor which was ajar. The teen ran upstairs, noticed that all the rooms were in disarray - and then found her mother's body in the bathroom and raised the alarm.

The family car, a silver-grey BMW, reg. nr CL 43169, is missing. The investigating officer was w/o Nicky Steyn at tel. 082 684 4370.

The initial brief examination of the murdered woman have the SAPS believing that she may have been strangled, but this will have to be confirmed with the usual post-mortem examination by a police-forensics expert.

Capt Matthee confirmed that there had been 'several breakins' in the region recently. Die Burger also reported an armed attack against the local Spar supermarket during which its manager was kidnapped. http://www.nuus24.com/Suid-Afrika/Nuus/Ma-van-vier-tuis-in-bad-vermoor-20100911

There were ‘signs of very serious assaults and dragging marks on his body,’ said the police spokesman. Janse van Rensburg’s elderly parents were informed of their son’s gruesome murder shortly after the find.

Anton Greeff, 50, farm manager, Spitskop, Ermelo, critical after attack by 8-member gang Aug 25 2010: one of 8 attackers killed

Farm managerAnton Greeff, 50, of the farm Spitskop near Ermelo is in critical condition in a Pretoria hospital after he was attacked by an eight-member black gang. The gang first held Mrs Erica Aucamp at gunpoint. A firefight had then broken out between farm owner Hein Aucamp’s son Hardus, his dad and the gang – and this ended in hand-to-hand combat during which the young Aucamp sustained a nasty bite to a shoulder. Aucamp was shot in the arm and shoulder. In the response by the Hendrina farm-watch unit, one of the attackers was shot dead inside the homestead, and two were arrested. http://www.beeld.com/Suid-Afrika/Nuus/Boer-bedenklik-nadat-bende-aanvallers-toeslaan-20100825

Naas Grobler, 56, businessman, shot dead, rural Deneysville security complex

At about 04:00 Naas Grobler, 56, left, went to investigate why his dog was barking so incessantly and was shot dead in cold blood, said his stepson, Mel Shandos, 44, from Kempton Park…

Grobler's wife Rika, 62, grabbed her cellphone and locked herself in the bathroom of their house, named Lekker Lag, ( Happy Laughter ) when she heard the shots. The gunmen calmly stole a cellphone and jewellery from the house after the shooting. The same attackers had apparently broken in and robbed two other houses in the same ‘secure’ Club 40 complex, about 10km from Deneysville and the Vaal Dam just before they shot Mr Grobler.

One of the houses belongs to Grobler's son Louis, 30, who is also a partner in their steel business. His house is three doors down from that of his parents.

"Luckily the other residents and I were not at home when we were robbed," Grobler jnr said on Wednesday. Grobler snr was presumably attacked at the sliding door on the stoep.

"My stepdad was shot in cold blood," said Shandos.Three shots were fired, of which at least one hit Grobler snr. His sons describe him as "a kind man who had no enemies"."When my mom heard the robbers flee, she phoned the security guard at the complex's gate and started screaming," said Shandos. She was treated for shock on Wednesday and was too traumatised to speak to Beeld.

Police officials from Sasolburg and Deneysville, including the K9 unit, trackers and a police helicopter started looking for the gunmen. While the surrounding farms and gravel roads were being searched, Shandos told of how they had all been relaxing together next to the river one day."My step father said we always have a good laugh here, so he decided that should be the name of the house… “Lekker Lag”." report by Sonja van Buul and Johan Brits, Beeld http://www.news24.com/SouthAfrica/News/Man-shot-dead-in-Lekker-Lag-home-20100908

It was pitch dark and she was tied up with shoelaces."
According to the family member, Mrs Wartington said the robbers wanted money from her."She didn't have any money. She's an elderly lady, why did they have to beat her like that?" 2010-09-01 Floris Kruger, 60, smallholder executed, tortured, St Albans, East Cape

The murderded pensioner’s daughter writes us: SEPT 3 2010 - “My Father, Floris Kruger, was murdered two days ago on the 1st September 2010 in the St Albans area, Eastern Cape. They stabbed him several times in the chest – torture to get information concerning his bank accounts etc. They tied him by his feet and took him to the bushes using his car (which they stole) -- where they shot him between the eyes and left him there. He was found on the 2nd September 2010. My dad had no money, he had nothing worth stealing in his house, all he had was his children. He was 60 years old. I loved him very much and I miss him. JUSTICE WILL BE DONE.”

2010/09/03 PORT ELIZABETH. Three black men were arrested for the execution-style murder of Afrikaner smallholder Floris Johannes Kruger, 60, whose body was found dumped in the bushes behind Port Elizabeth’s St Albans Prison on Wednesday afternoon. He was beaten so badly that all his ribs were broken. He was shot with his own 6.35mm pistol.

Severely beaten:

They have identified the victim as Floris Johannes Kruger, 60, a poor pensioner living by himself on a smallholding in Le Marseilles Road, Greenbushes. Kruger’s body was found on the side of the road by workers fixing a farm fence at about 11am. Kruger was severely beaten and shot twice in the head at close range with a cloth over his head. A police officer close to the investigation said the men suspected of being involved with the murder had been arrested in a vehicle while allegedly trying to flee Port Elizabeth late yesterday afternoon.

“We received information which led us to a road near the Fairview racecourse, where we found three of the five men believed to have been involved with the murder,” the officer said. “We searched them and found various stolen goods linking them to the murder. We are still searching for two other accomplices.” Police suspect the three Xhosa males were trying to flee to their homes in Transkei.
Police spokesman Warrant Officer Alwin Labans said detectives suspected Kruger had been the victim of a “botched house robbery: i appears he was attacked by five people inside his house early on Wednesday.” Evidence suggested that the men had beaten and stabbed Kruger nine times in an attempt to get his bank card pin code. Labans said R500 had been withdrawn on Wednesday night from an Absa ATM in Kabega Park.

He said the post-mortem report showed that Kruger had been beaten so badly that all his ribs were broken. “We presume they beat and stabbed him until he gave up his bank details,” he said. “From what we can see, two firearms were also stolen from his house.”

Ballistic tests also showed that Kruger had been shot with his own firearm – a 6.35mm pistol. “Once they had what they wanted, we believe they put a cloth over his face, tied him up and loaded him into his car, a silver VW Polo,” Labans said. “We presume he was still alive as there were no signs that he had been shot in or around the house.” Kruger was a neighbour of Jack Bergman, 86, who was brutally beaten by five robbers inside his home in July 2009 - and died in hospital days later. The three men are due to appear in court on Monday. http://www.theherald.co.za/article.aspx?id=601961

64 year old woman murdered on farmholding

Nelspruit.

Mev.

Verkragte hoor: ‘Jy is ’n rassis!’

Hilda Fourie

“Ek wil nie eens uitgaan nie, want dit lyk of elke tweede man op straat my wil aanval.

“Dit gaan nie daaroor dat hy swart is nie. Dit gaan daaroor dat hy nie sy werk doen nie.”

Lt.kol. Eugene Opperman, Gautengse polisiewoordvoerder, het gesê die polisiebestuur is bewus van die polisieman se optrede en dit “kry aandag”.

Afrikaans actor Hendrik Cronjé kidnapped, dumped in black township

2010-09-04 RAPPORT, PRETORIA. Afrikaner actor Hendrik Cronjé and friend Henrich Schultz were kidnapped at 1am Friday Sept 3 2010 from the Menlyn shopping centre in Pretoria; robbed at gunpoint, ordered into the carboot, kidnapped and driven to Mamelodi township. The young actor said they are lucky to be alive: their ambushers’only dumped them’-- although the two black gunmen had repeatedly threatened to kill the Afrikaners. http://www.rapport.co.za/Suid-Afrika/Nuus/Lukas-gekaap-in-veld-gelos-20100904

Cronjé, who acts in the Afrikaans TV-soap "7deLaan', said they were attacked by two black men when they returned to their car after attending the premiere of the Afrikaans movie Bakgat Two. The actor who plays the part of Lukas Mulder in the soapie, said he initially thought the men would 'only rob them' - however instead the two Afrikaner men were ordered to climb into the car-boot, writes Rapport journalist Gavin Prins.

"We are going to kill you now,' their attackers kept on screaming as they drove off with the two Afrikaners. Instead the car stopped in Mamelodi and they were ordered out of the boot."We walked for a few minutes and then knocked at the door of a house to get help,' said Cronjé.

The Brooklyn police took their statements -- and while this was taking place, the report came in that the actor's car was tracked to a site in Mamelodi. Just hours after his nightmare-experience, the young Afrikaner was back on the set of Sewende Laan.

"People must approach their parked cars with caution,' he warned. "The hijackers had hidden away behind an electric signal box to ambush us. "I thank the Lord that we are alive. Things could have been much worse.' http://www.rapport.co.za/Suid-Afrika/Nuus/Lukas-gekaap-in-veld-gelos-20100904
